    Since 1975, Bangalore-based The Concerned for Working Children has worked on various issues related to children's rights including child labour and education, with a special emphasis on children's right to self–determination. It has encouraged children to participate in local governance by setting up children's panchayats and gram sabhas. In 2010, it launched the 'Me & My VOTE are NOT for SALE' campaign in Karnataka to generate awareness on panchayat elections. Today, the campaign has been launched nationally as well.

In Pune, Kagad Kach Patra Kashtakari Panchayat (KKPKP) has helped waste pickers fight for their rights and work for the betterment of their community. It all began in 1993 with a convention of 800 waste pickers, which provided them a platform to air their grievances and concerns.

    Known as 'Himveers' or ‘snow warriors’, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBPF) consists of professionally trained mountaineers and skiers. The ITBPF guards India's Himalayan border—one of the world's toughest frontiers—covering 3,488 km from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh.
