After air, the next most vital thing for our survival is water. While at the moment we have enough water for our needs, a time is likely to come when our water supply runs out and we have to buy water at a price similar to fuel. This is a situation which already exists in some parts of the country, and ‘water wars’ are a common occurrence. The solution, which some people have implemented, is to save and store rainwater.

Sambhaav

Sambhaav is a voluntary development organization, that works towards the development of rural human resources with a long-term objective of bringing about change (physical, attitudinal and social) in its work areas in Rajasthan and five other states, by setting up models of development that are conducive and effective in a given context.

The work on revival of traditional water harvesting systems in Rajasthan is at present spread over 85 villages in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Alwar, Dausa, Nagaur and Jaipur districts, with an overall outreach in more than 120 villages.
