Dear Aamir: Today's episode on Scavengers need much appreciations. There was need to add a solution and I have a solution for it. I am working to remove this stigma from the society by linking to health and Human Rights Issue. As Hon'ble Justice Dharmadhikari said, caste blood tak nahi jaati, skin se ujagar hoti hai. Because till today, none of the state government and municipal committees could provide the protective clothing, hand gloves, long boots, masks and scavenging aids to each and every as being provided to their counterparts in USA and other developed nations. While in USA, I have seen scavengers well equipped with such things and of you must have also watched and observed the same in international airports. But in our country be it in dirty bus stands, railways, schools, hospitals they are working without any protective clothing and scavenging aids, allowances for washing, this makes them victimized for Un-touchability sin. If these are mandatorily provided to them them the people well see them in such cloths and have least feeling of untouchability assuming that their work cloths are different and post-work cloths are different. A sense of hygiene will spread and also the acceptability. Due this unhygienic practice the scavengers are falling prey to infectious diseases and much of their money does to doctors pockets. Without such protective clothing and hygienic training their kids do not grow properly. It is also inhumane and violation of International human rights. I have many photos and videos on this. So, we can unite to have and evaluation of funding status of municipal committees, village panchayats and gap should be filled with help of local public and state government. Best regards, Dr Ajay

hi team of satyamev jayate , you have discussed half part of coin in your program .there is one more thing you guys must have forgot to mention. so i decided to share my story to you . when i was a child i was strictly against of this untouchability . i continued to oppose this system when i was studying in 12th class, but after that i have given entrance exams for engineering called IITJEE for admission in most prestigious iit's ,twice after that .once i got 97 marks and secondly i got 163 marks . both time i was disqualified because i was in general category. my cutoff was 190 first and 229 second time, if you look at sc-st cutoff .that was 95 marks first time and 119 second time .in this manner i was qualified both time but because i was general i lost this opportunity. this is only starting secondly there is culture in my state that if you do any undergraduate course and you belong to sc st you will get scholarship of Rs.34000 per year and more other ignoring the fact that what's your income.if i person from general category do same thing you nothing except a middle finger you will get. they don't care you are poor or not . you are general you have to pay. another case i went for coaching to an institute for iitjee preparation. i said sir would i get anything any discount i am meritorious student . he said no . same time a student from sc-st category came. he asked for discount and he got immediate discount of 20 % .they dint see his 67%. thet saw his category because he can select more easily in entrance exam comparison .these are only 3 facts that i mentioned .there are lots and lots are remaining which we see in daily life because we are general either brahmana or baniya .so why we should be suffer only let them suffer too .that's why i support untouchability..today you see in election votes % always remains around 60-65 % because i know left 35% are general category people who tired after becoming downtrodden . now i am earning good so i am happy but what happens with my cast people have you seen ever .if you call this democracy then i don't like to be an indian. in this manner india can't become super power that's for sure .continue to reserve seats for undeserving people is stupidity while a deserving person is waiting in queue . i think i made my point clear. thank you

Hello, it’s Dharmendra here from, New Delhi.Today, I saw your show on the issue of untouchability. As one lady survivor said she would face this sort of problem in her daily life, I condemn this kind of job, no matter wherever it happens: in side India or outside. Just for your kind information I wish to aver now it no longer exists at least in JNU. See, we are all responsible for this, and individually no can be made scapegoat for this yucky act. We all should come together and force the government not to play with our emotions, and stop playing political game on the ground of casteism. You know, I grew up in a very poor family, and my parents aren't very educated. They would kinda believe in all these things. They took every right possible step to educate us, and because of those efforts my elder brother is now a scientist and even my aim is somewhat similar. When I went to BHU, Varanasi, the scene was totally different; there was not a single student who would believe in this. So I reckon it was just the consequence of environment of good education. So what I've concluded from all my experience is education plays a vital role to set one's mind. In fact, there are millions in our country who don't know there rights, even it’s very important to know our rights. Here I wanna say if our government fails to provide good education facility to the underprivileged, then, at least we, privileged class, should come forward and help those. Here I have an idea in mind that I'll surely implement once I get my doctorate. As we daily waste few minutes without any reason, so here we have to use those minutes for teaching poor students, people and to encourage them dreaming high without taking any fee. Aamir Ji, I'm certain people will follow you if you urge them to do so. I think it's very easy to implement and run. As I was telling about my family, they are no longer in this fray of casteism, and in fact, all my acquaintances have learnt from us - two brothers. Without education it's impossible to uproot this kind of mindset. Please encourage those who are still living in ancient style to keep up with changes. Somehow, reservation system is also responsible for this because it creates a chasm to divide the upper cast people to the lower cast people, but at least at higher level of education it doesn't mean anything. Ultimately, we reach at the same point of need of awareness program and higher education. Aamir Ji, if you get time then come to JNU, and see the response of the people. Here you can find the people living together from all across the globe. Thanking you all for starting this generous program!

When a student from the lowest strata of society fights against all odds to prove her merit and reach the best educational institutions in India, are those institutions proving themselves meritorious enough to recognize her worth, to accommodate, let alone nurture her aspirations? When a Dalit or Adivasi student becomes an engineer, doctor, business graduate or scientist, it should be a cause of pride for not just the family or the community but for the entire nation. Instead, why do our nation and its educational institutions reward their merit with discrimination, humiliation, violence and death? This documentary is third in the series of our efforts to document caste-based discrimination prevalent in Indian higher education system resulting in large number of suicides of Dalit students in the Indian campuses.

Hi Aamir Today's episode of SJ really touched my heart, looking at the plight of scavengers, their families and especially their kids. My solution to this issue would be: 1) This issue can only be addressed when we'll have our municipalities/any govt. organization that looks after drainage and sanitation facilities, should develop such good infrastructure that people never have to be forced to do such a job. Even today, some parts of metro cites have an open drainage line running along the roads. This issue should be addressed first and when this is done, obviously people will not be forced to clean other's excreta, they'll have better things to do. So, pls include this agenda as well in your petition that all the local authorities responsible for drainage and sanitation facilities should be guided and funded to develop proper infrastructure. 2) Also, health ministry should take immediate action to protect and vaccinate people who have been into the job of scavenging. It is very important to have a healthy society as well. Health ministry should also partner with the local authorities to check whether the infrastructure for drainage and sanitation is at par with the standards recommended by them. 3) This is the most important and crucial solution, wave off any caste system atleast in our Constitution. Let there be just 1 class, Indian, NO general/obc/sc/st quota. I know this might seem to be a very impractical and difficult solution to adopt system for the society we live in, but our future generations will inherit the benefits. Only when it'll be illegal to call someone a 'bhangi' or 'dalit', our people will try to stop themselves from doing so. This way we'll atleast have a society free from these taboos. After this we have a long journey to eliminate casteism from the grass root level and bring people like 'purohits' from Banaras/Haridwar to terms with our Constitution. 4) Schools/other educational institutions and boards (like CBSE, ICSE, etc.) should stop having a column for category in their admission forms, this is how schools can contribute to a caste-free society. This is the place where students actually get to know about differentiation. Schools should curb it right at the time of admission. 5) Preaching someone that the color of our blood is no different from theirs or whatever, will not help. Lets start to stop discrimination from our homes, lets not ill-treat or humiliate our maids, helpers, servants, domestic help staff, etc. Lets stop telling them that all there generations have been into sweeping and will keep doing so forever. Lets stop assuming that these people never get hurt, don't have feelings, are born to sweep, etc. They too are humans, humans with blood, flesh and emotions same as we do. Don't make someone so apathetic that they curse their own existence or harm you in the future. Because, at the end of this, there is only anger or frustration that we are inflicting into their current and future generation, which will definitely rupture their tolerance and endurance, and we don't know what will be the result of it. Because every child is not as submissive as that child from Gujarat, who stopped going for mid-day meals, some children are like Wilson also!

I was born in a family, my mother always kept a Pandit for Making food..... This difference was clearly visible between lower and upper caste in my mothers house.... After Marriage, when i had to run my life. In my Practical life...all of this ended. An Incidence has shook me to the core so much that at that moment you realize that You are one Human and the person opposite to you is a Human as well. There is no Caste difference. When God puts such Situation, its his way of taking the exam of life..... When We were posted in Lonavala, I had a very Bad time because I was abandoned by my Husband and Divorce paper were put up. The effect of that was, the whole society had out cast me and my children. This was My Situation....We had no Maid willing to come in my house, no one was willing to help me. There was a Handicap Couple(Husband was Deaf and Dumb, The wife had polio) who were of this caste. No one kept them for work above Gardening. It was my need and it was there need, that was supporting each other. They had come barring the rumor that was spread in my families name. I also crossed all the caste limits because it was my need. Working in my house for 3 years, in between that lady got pregnant and still she was working in my house, Wiping with one hand, despite me telling her not to. They were giving there service by heart and efficiently...but God had to take my exam as well. 31 December Night everyone had enjoyed the Defense New Year Celebrations....Me, my family and my sisters family....We had celebrated new year that night, the girl did the cleaning work and went to her house. I gave her Food to eat, which she refused because she said she wasnt feeling comfortable. At Night 3 a.m, her water bag burst in her room. Where we were posted there was no emergency service for servants....Her Husband Knocked our Door and he handed her over to me. I asked my whole family to help her....despite everyone being there no one Budged. With a little help from her Husband we dumped her in my car and all i could think of was that she and her baby should survive. At that Moment i did not have Caste or anything about that I will get some infection from her or any disease. At the Defense Hospital no one was there at night and the Town Hospital was 7 Kms away deep in the forest....I kept Saying Meher Babas name, "Meher Baba Just Help me". I decided to travel to the Town Hospital 7 Kms away because Defense Hospitals have least Humanity and lots of Rules and Regulations. Watching all this, my sister caught hold of me and said dont do all this emotional stupid act, and she came with me saying dont go alone. She forced me to try at the defense hospital once.....just once. I forced my husband to call the doctor, in the hospital too i forced the attendants that were on Night duty to call the Doctor because of Emergency, they kept saying that its not in the regulations to treat servant as they are civilians..asking me why i touched her with naked hands and that I may get any infection like HIV or anything else. I just requested and forced the Doctor to just come and do the delivery, where could I have Driven 7 kms in the forest to the town hospital......I didnt even know where it was located. Luckily, thanks to God the Doctor Came and after 1 Hour, early morning 4:30 she delivered a Baby Girl. The Next day, in base i had so many sarcastic Critics and Comments that i had to listen. Second day I had a ladies Meet with the CO's wife. From 99% of the women only one person who supported me was the CO wife. I think what happened was my exam...its is just the Human Mind that makes abandonment and lower castes. Still i feel as a Human Being no matter how educated and rich or High class, Kavita and Bhau Mukesh(The Handicap Couple) They are truly Pandits. Even as Lord Krishna has explained,if the actions of your life are more concentrated on things below the Chest you are a Dalit, no matter what caste you are born in and no matter how rich you are....If you are born in Lower caste Family and you actions are of above the chest...you are a pandit. I really thank Satyamev Jayate because of Whom i do not feel like an Out Cast, this feeling was given to me by Kavita and Bhau..someone who accepted me with my Kids

Dear Mr. Aamir Khan, My name is Krishna, I am 22 years old and currently a Medical Student in USA. I have recently watched all your episodes from season 1. Firstly I would like to convey that I have never felt so inspired to do something for my country as I do now after watching your episodes. Even though I have been brought up in the US, I still consider myself an Indian. I am absolutely disgusted at the amount of issues that Indians still face to this day. More than that I am absolutely flabbergasted at some of the negative responses toward this show. I have just finished watching the episode on untouchability and it is absolutely atrocious that untouchability is this common among the citizens of Indians. I, myself am a brahmin and was born in Warangal, AP. I would just like to state that having the title of a brahmin doesn't demand respect or special privileges in society. The family I hail from has been a true blessing not only in my life, but also in the lives of others in my community. Our family has had many " harijans" that have cleaned our house and washed our dishes, though I am completely against the concept of servants and maids, it was necessary in our house in India. Our servant maid had 3 kids: Jaya, Ravi and Sumalatha. I referred to them as jaya akka, ravi anna and sumalatha. They were family. They did everything the kids in my family did. We all played carrams together, watched tv, played cricket, ate together, and slept on the terrace on hot summer nights. Not only did they participate in our daily activities but remember instances when I would make my way to their hut to eat lunch with them and accompany them on their daily chores. I remember several instances when I accompanied Jaya akka through the bushes to look for cow dung so it can be used as either fertilizer or used on clay houses. I remember days where my cousins and I aided in sweeping the house so Jaya akka, Ravi anna and our cousins could go out and play. Not only did we make them a part of our life but made sure they had an education. My uncle being a mathematics teacher personally sat with Ravi anna for math tutoring and at many times scolded him about the importance of education. Today Jaya Akka is a teacher at a government school and is looking to get married. I guess I have been blessed to be born into a family with such broad thinking and accepting nature. I decided to write this message because I believe that there is hope for our country. There is hope that the youth of our country will change their mentality. My only regret is my generation thinks change and progression is dressing "modern", "partying" and "clubs" but along with excepting these changes I hope they start accepting the value of human beings around them and start realizing that India is our beautiful country that cannot shine without our help and our determination. You truly are my hero and I cannot begin to describe my respect for you. Thank you for all the wonderful and beautiful episodes. I hope they continue to open the eyes of millions about the issues in India as they have mine. JAI HIND!!! Sincerely, Krishna

Dear Amir, Thanks for bringing this issue infront of all Indians. I am motivated by Sardar Bhagat Singh and Chandra Shekhar azad . and I am doing my little for my country. I am not agree with your show. Because now a days, general caste people are suffering more than ST/SC or OBC. I have faced this problem, and still facing it,because- 1. I am a girl. 2. My father is from poor family. 3. My brother is 9 years younger than me and my sister. 4. We are brahmin. I have been to many states of India, and struggle for my existence and self respect. I could not take maths, because my father was not able to afford the fees. because school was asking for full fees, because we are from general caste. I could not take admission in good college inspite of having 80% in 12th, because i am brahmin and high fees. And there are many stories in between- but let me tell you the current one- I am going to be 31 in August , but i am not happy for my coming b'day. Because , my father can not afford Dowry and can not find a right match for me and my sister, because we are brahmins, and govt is not providing any help for poors or middle class or general caste. Now , please answer me Mr Amir, Who is suffering, a girl, a caste, a class or ME ? Radha I am waiting for your answer .

Its really humiliating of being a member of a family which falls under SC/ST category. from the day 1 when you enters into the real world everybody starts realising you that you are not a part of us, you are lower than us, cant sit with us etc. etc. I want to share a incident of my school days with all of you. well i m from a middle class family my parents have provided me everything i wished for in my life and also i was in one of the brightest students of my school but one of my classmate who belonged to brahmin caste was a good friend of mine since i was in class 1, we played together, had our lunch together but suddenly when we were in 7th standard she came to know that i belonged to a SC community from that day she started keeping herself away from me, and also said that i should not touch her, even she had also visit haridwar to wash her paaps as we say in hindi because she had lunch with me n sit with me for a long time. when she came back, she said from now i m not your friend so plz dont touch my lunch aur my water bottle. I felt so bad that few days ago she was doing everything with us but what has changed now. i decided that i have to teach her a lesson on it, now everyday when the lunch time starts she open ups her lunch box and i use to run at her and touch her lunch box and ran away and then she didnt take her lunch and take it as it is to her home back. i had done this for 7 days on the 8th day when i touched her lunch and ran she get back to her bench and had lunch. after she finished her lunch i go to her and said sorry and also asked " what happended are you ok?" she said - yes absolutely. then i said- so why you were behaving like that with with since so many days. i said- i m also  a human being as you are n we were like best friends from past 7 years so how could you behave like that with me. she had no answer for her stupidity.......................:)
